My mind has been focused on Hurricane Ike victims and their losses. I am not sure why I am focused there right now I can't help but to wonder what I could do to help, besides pray.
So here I was praying as diligent as I know how and I opened up a daily devotional. Mark 10:43 (MSG) "Whoever wants to be great must become a servant." Now I am going to turn this question to all of those in Texas, "How may I serve you?"
I am glad that Hurricane Ike has lifted, yet I know that there is much relief work that needs to be done to help those who have lost many things. While today's world seems to focus on money, property and prestige, I will stand my ground just for today, and offer to be of service instead of demanding to be served.
If there is any way for me to be of service, please contact Michelle at the email link on the top of this page and I will do what I can.
Heavenly Father,
I would like to lift up those in need after being faced with Hurricane Ike. Lord here I am use me. How can I be of service to you and others?
In Jesus precious name, Amen

It is a mess down here. Essential personnel are not getting many breaks. We have been making ice as quickly as we can for our friends without it. Sometime this afternoon, we hope, the water in our area will be potable again. We have bottled, fortunately, but many didn't take the storm seriously.Your welcome Lorrie,I still have tears as I watch the devastation. I really am not sure why but maybe it is because I went through a few storms myself when I was living in Texas and Louisiana as a child.God blessI have to admit...it is nothing I ever want to experience again. We used to live in Colorado, complete with blizzards. We'd lose power, but could put perishable food outside, bundle in blankets and sleep a lot. We could cook on our grill and unless you tried to travel in the blizzard, you would be OK. Occasionally people would have a pipe burst, but there were things to do to prevent that. You could even bring in a bucketfuls of snow to melt for water. With this, people are losing all their food, there is nothing cold to drink, no air conditioning and no jobs in many cases to go back to, not to mention a home. I surely am not saying a blizzard is a good thing, but that is all I have to compare this to. We are in a very small number with power, and even internet service.God has blessed us with a cold front. Even in this we can see his mercy.I have seen His mercy also in that there are not as many deaths as suspected. Yet, we really don't have a final count, as of now it does not seem to be as many as in Katrina. I pray that numbers stay down with this one.
