Are You Transparent Or Fluffy?

Who knows how to be transparent and not full of fluff? The more I read I am missing the transparency and the more I write or talk about being transparent, the less responses I receive. Everywhere I go I see people trying to put on a show of what they seem to think people would like see or hear. Am I missing the point? Is truth to hard to handle for some? Apparently so.
Being transparent isn't about me! It is about what God can, will and has done in my life. It is truly about the condition of the heart, at least for me.
I have found that if I am being transparent with my children for example, they have a better chance of not making the same mistakes I have. While on the other hand, the mistakes they have repeated, I have shown them a way out and a better life to live. I no longer feel guilty for the mistakes and I make amends when needed. I have said many times before, that this pastor's wife is not prim, proper nor perfect in anyway.
So you think you have arrived? Take a look in the mirror. Here is my short sermon for the day strait out of God's word. It is a good reminder not just for me but, for all.
James 1:19-27 (Contemporary English Version)
19 My dear friends, you should be quick to listen and slow to speak or to get angry. 20 If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things that God wants done. 21 You must stop doing anything immoral or evil. Instead be humble and accept the message that is planted in you to save you.
22 Obey God's message Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it. 23 If you hear the message and don't obey it, you are like people who stare at themselves in a mirror 24 and forget what they look like as soon as they leave. 25 But you must never stop looking at the perfect law that sets you free. God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear and forget.
26 If you think you are being religious, but can't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and everything you do is useless. 27 Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world make you evil.
It is a daily struggle to obey God's word yet well worth it.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)Thank you for Today's Sermon, Michelle. I was reflecting on something similar yesterday found in Colossians 4:6. It is a blessing to know we are under His Grace. I admit to being transparent and fluffy if fluffy means aloof. Most of the time, I don't get weighted down with what "other people are doing or saying." Michelle, in a real sense, I don't care. I cast my cares on Him. I find the enemy will easily distract me when I put my thoughts in everyone's business. I try to please the Lord. I never wish to offend anyone but I know in pleasing Him, it's inevitable others will be offended.
Keep satisfying Jesus and He'll continue to mold, shape, transform and fashiong us after Him. He's doing a remarkable work in you from my view. A great sermon!
Hugs and blessings,
Avis
