Memorial Day - A Day That We Should Never Forget

I know a veteran that served in the Korean War. He was one of the Frozen Chosen and the stories he shares are a miracles in themselves. He tells us about how they were dressed in summer fatigue while they were stationed in winter weather and didn't have enough supplies. Heart breaking stories of how his friends died and how they would have to use those who had died as body shields and to cover up and try to stay warm and alive.
Many lives have been sacrificed for our freedom. Our veterans should always be remembered and never forgotten. Like our soldiers who gave their lives for us Jesus paid the ultimate price. The only difference was Jesus was absolutely sinless, whereas we humans all fall short at one point or another.
I am not a history buff, yet when something from history catches my attention I find it very interesting. For example, Adolf Hitler, with all the drugs he took; it was no wonder he was a deranged lunatic. Then there's Napoleon! I guess he wanted to be God. His army killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers in battle, all for the sake of conquest. There are a few things that catch my attention in history, yet this article is to remember our service men and women on Memorial Day and every day following.
To this day my friend always requests prayer for our soldiers and praises the Lord with all of his heart. He sings in the church choir with a booming voice. He is very down to earth and his gratitude is evident.
Memorial Day was established for those who fought, gave their lives and those who were never found. Gratitude and recognition should be given to all who have served, and are serving, in any war. The best gift we can give them is our prayers.
