All I Want for Christmas are My Two Front Teeth?

All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth... Some of you may remember the song. Of course, in the song it is pronounced "teef", but you get the idea. I was thinking about Christmas just the other day and this song came to mind.
What do I want for Christmas?
Oh, how I would love to have one day without a broken wrist, so I could do all the things that healthy people do with two hands. One day without diabetes, without high and low sugars. One day without neuropathy and the pain. Is that too much to ask?
But, then I got to thinking about how so many people have it much worse than I do. People who have lost their sight or hearing. People who have lost their legs or hands. People who are parapalegic. People who are riddled with cancer.
I have a friend, Valerie, a beautiful lady who was diagnosed with brain tumors several months ago. Her health has rapidly declined to the point where the doctors aren't giving her long to live. Her son just turned 18. Oh, Lord, all I want for Christmas is for her to spend Christmas with her son.
When I think about my health there are many things I could ask for. But, when I think about what I am going through in comparison with others I can only weep at my selfishness and self-centeredness. There are so many sick and disabled people in this world. There is so much suffering and pain. Who am I to complain?
So, this Christmas, I hope the good Lord would somehow use me in my weakness, with all of my infirmities, to somehow be a blessing to those who are less fortunate than I. That I may somehow bring encouragement and healing to the weary.
This Christmas let's remember those who couldn't go out Christmas shopping, not because they didn't have the money, but because they couldn't walk, or see or hear. Let's remember all those individuals who need a whole lot more on Christmas day than we could ever imagine. And let's remember to lift up the sick in our prayers, that God would comfort them and bring them hope and comfort and healing as they observe the most glorious day of the year.
